Homeopathic Treatment of Dandruff

Dandruff refers to a specific skin condition that mainly occurs on the scalp. It causes sebum to rise from the scalp like scales and fall off. Dandruff can cause self-esteem and even social problems. A more serious form of this condition is seborrheic dermatitis or an oily and itchy skin condition.

Dandruff is one of the most common problems in our bodies. Dandruff can cause frequent hair loss along with severe scalp itching. It is caused by an overgrowth of fungus on the scalp. Let’s learn about the causes, remedies, and prevention of dandruff.

Although no clear cause of dandruff is known, genetic and environmental factors are believed to cause dandruff, which is more likely to increase in the winter. Although impurity is blamed as the reason behind dandruff, it is not actually related to it. Dandruff is caused by the excessive growth of skin cells. Dandruff is diagnosed and treated based on symptoms.

In a normal cycle in the scalp, some new cells are always produced and some old cells are shed. But if the old dead cells accumulate and fall out like a white scaly powder and become itchy we call it dandruff. Dry skin on the scalp caused by an overgrowth of a type of fungus called Malassezia causes dandruff. Let’s know in detail about the causes, remedies, and prevention of dandruff.

There is no general cure for dandruff. Using antifungal creams or salicylic acid may improve the condition somewhat. Half of adults suffer from the condition, with a higher incidence in men than women. Almost all people in the world are affected by dandruff.

Cause

Dandruff can occur for many reasons. The most common cause of dandruff is seborrheic dermatitis or an oily and itchy skin condition.

There is a type of fungus called Melasegia. All adults have the Melasegia fungus on their scalps. Melassegia helps in the growth of new skin cells. But this fungus can be dangerous in oily conditions with an accumulation of dirt on the skin. The extra skin cells that are produced in this condition die and fall off. The white-yellow dandruff that falls from the head is actually our dead skin cells. However, apart from the head, dandruff can also occur on other parts of the body including the armpits, and groin.

Actually, dandruff is not a disease or a symptom of any disease. Dandruff is usually caused by the accumulation of dirt and fungus in the hair follicles. Below are some of the conditions that cause dandruff.

  1. dry skin

Due to the decrease in humidity in the weather during winter, the skin of the body as well as the scalp also becomes dry, so dandruff is more common. Apart from this, dandruff can also be caused due to the inconsistency of temperature that is seen due to the cold air outside and the comparatively hot air of the room.

  1. Not combing the hair enough

Dandruff can also occur if the hair is not brushed enough. If the hair is combed less, the tendency of the scalp to fall off is much reduced. As a result, dandruff occurs on the head.

  1. Excessive use of oil on the scalp

Dandruff infections are more common in people who use excess oil on their scalp. The excess oil accumulates at the roots of the hair and causes a fungal infection, which leads to an increase in dandruff.

  1. If infected with white-discharge disease

Dandruff is more common in people with yeast infections or allergies. This problem is observed more in women. The sun’s UV rays and yeast interact and increase the risk of dandruff.

  1. Not shampooing enough

If not shampooed enough, the scalp remains unclean. This can also cause dandruff.

  1. Lack of proper diet

Lack of proper diet is also one of the causes of dandruff. If the diet does not contain enough vitamin B and zinc, the risk of dandruff also increases. Apart from this, eating too much fatty food can also cause dandruff.

  1. An overgrowth of the fungus Malassezia

A type of fungus called Malassezia is present in small amounts on everyone’s scalp and does not cause any problems. However, if the amount of fungus on the scalp increases, it absorbs the skin’s oil. This causes the scalp to produce extra skin cells. When these extra cells are dead, they mix with scalp and hair oil and cause dandruff.

  1. Excessive stress

Excessive stress is also one of the causes of dandruff. People who are under excessive stress are more prone to dandruff.

  1. Decreased immunity

Dandruff is more common in people with a low immune system. Besides, those who have certain diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, stroke, sensitive skin, and skin problems (psoriasis, eczema) etc. are more prone to dandruff. A recent study found that 10.6% of people with HIV develop dandruff.

  1. Due to the water problem

Sometimes water problems can also cause dandruff. If the water contains too much chlorine, the skin dries out quickly, which can lead to dandruff.

Prevention:

  1. Use shampoo

People who have frequent dandruff can use moderate shampoo on their hair regularly.

  1. Use of head scarf

When you go outside, dust accumulates on the head and increases the prevalence of dandruff. So a scarf or veil can be used on the head to eliminate this problem.

  1. Changes in diet

Dietary changes are an important factor in controlling dandruff. Therefore, to keep the scalp healthy, eat plenty of vegetables and avoid fatty foods.

  1. cleanliness

Cleanliness is very important for dandruff-free hair. Dandruff is more common if the hair is dirty. So try to keep your hair clean regularly.

  1. Dry wet hair quickly

It is not good to tie hair when it is wet. For this reason, the hair should be wiped as soon as possible after bathing. If necessary, the hair should be combed slowly with a coarse tooth comb. Besides, it is better to dry the hair with a fan instead of using a hair dryer.

Dandruff needs to be treated quickly. Otherwise, this problem can cause various problems including hair loss. Therefore, in addition to using shampoo to prevent dandruff, it is necessary to be equally careful about cleanliness and diet.
